About Us

Pete CiottiPeter Leo Ciotti IV

Operator

I am originally from New York but have lived in Arcata for over a decade now. I have also been performing and playing shows all over the country since 2001 with the band The Nucleus, in which I am the drummer. I took over the operations at the Jambalaya in the late summer of 2009 but have been a longtime admirer and supporter of what the Jambalaya brings and contributes to the local Arcata Music Scene.

My goal is to embrace the over 35 years of musical history that has taken place in this very building and augment its roots with quality entertainment, food and drinks. Music is my passion and as the owner and operater of Big Pete's Pizzeria both in Arcata and Eureka you can say that food is also something I care deeply about. Quality comes first with me and I strive to offer organic and local products whenever I can and wherever I can. I like the idea of keeping our money local especially in these economical times. I believe in contributing to non-profit and community based endeavors as well.

The Jambalaya is all about community and the best way to share in that experience is through Music, Food and Spirits. My pledge to the community is simple. Over the next year or so you will see many beautiful changes take place here at the Jam without losing the integrity and admiration towards the history of this place. Its all about the music and the community in which we share it. Hope to see you soon in here dancing and leaving your hang ups at the door. Peace!

P.R.

My interest in public relations and community involvement started in high school when I organized a benefit concert called Punk for Paralysis.  It continued with various community service projects, including a benefit for the Napa symphony, and finally a degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from Humboldt State University.  I was the first public relations intern for Baywood Golf and Country Club, and was on the staff for the Osprey Magazine as well as The Lumberjack.  I organized a show at Big Pete’s Pizza for the release of the Osprey Magazine.  My most recent experience was with a multi-media journalism program in Urbino, Italy in the summer of 2009.  I created a video, website, photo slide show, and wrote two stories, one of which is in the Urbino View Magazine distributed exclusively in Italy.  Through my years at HSU, I studied the effects of globalization via anthropology and now my main goal is local business advocacy. I’m excited to apply my knowledge of journalism and affinity for local community involvement to the success of Jambalaya.

P.R. Intern

I’m a senior at HSU finishing my PR degree. I want this experience interning for the Jambalaya to further my career in public relations and to develop skills for other organizations that need to spread their message to the community.

I’m also excited to help a fresh venue in Arcata. I have always been an advocate of live music and letting the community know about a great, rejuvenated venue and to keep them posted on bands that either are touring or local.

Let’s face it, Arcata doesn’t have the greatest nightlife and I am happy that our team has some fresh ideas to spice that up. Sort of like a jambalaya (It was so cheesy that I had to add that.)

I hope to see tons of people support local music and food.

Say hi for our camera and blog when you see either Amy or me or don’t.

VIVA LA JAMBALAYA!
